The Prescott CHRISTmas Lights and Travel Days

After leaving Thousand Trails Verde Valley we headed up to Prescott Valley where we stayed at the Fairgrounds RV Park. We heard the weather might get bad so we stayed 2 nights instead of our original plan of 1 night. This Passport America park is very nice. They have large, level gravel sites with brick patios w/privacy fence for only $15.00 a night. Prescott is just a short drive from there and of course the WalMart is very close. We drove into town to see all the Christmas lights we had heard so much about.
Very beautiful, but I really expected the whole town to be decorated not just the courthouse. Still it was nice to see.
The next morning we hit the road again. Weather was great for traveling. We headed down the mountains to Phoenix to our next destination, Lake Havasu. First we stopped at an RV park in Tonopah, it was a great park and we even had Santa and Ms Claus came by handing out Christmas cards and candy canes. His sleigh was decorated to the hilt. A very nice touch…
Saddle Mountain RV Park is a Passport America park and it’s awesome. Level pull through sites with gravel and concrete pads for only $16.00 a night. I would love to go back there and stay longer.

Back on the road to Lake Havasu… Great weather once again for traveling. We are truly grateful for the wonderful weather we are having for all our travel days. Thank You Lord!
While at Lake Havasu we stayed at the Campbell Cove RV Resort, it was just ok. The sites are very close together and some-what level on gravel. They are a Passport America park and charge $21.00. Not a whole lot to see in this town except for the London Bridge which has a small village under the bridge. The bridge and the village was decorated for the holidays so that was a plus…
We drove around the lake and looked at the light houses that are replicas from across the country.
Then it was back to the bridge to see the Christmas Lights…
I hope you enjoy following along with us as we drive across to California…
Until next time, Happy Trails and Safe Travels.

A Birthday Adventure

We are on our last week here Verde Valley Thousand Trails and some of our friends Lizanne and Shorty Guptill showed up a few days ago. It’s been great having them here to share our evenings with great conversation and to play games. Yesterday was Shorty’s birthday and Liz wanted to surprise him with this great train ride through the Verde Canyon. She invited us to join them and I’m so glad we did. The Verde Canyon Railroad is a 4 hour tour through the canyon and mountains, the view is simply breathtaking… We got some awesome pictures while the young girl did some narrating as we went along.

After returning to the station we headed to our next destination… The Blazin’ M Ranch for some good ol’ chuck wagon vittles. This ranch was set up like a little western town then we moseyed on into the big red barn where we sat at picnic tables to eat They served BBQ Chicken, Baby Back Ribs, Cowboy Pinto Beans, Prickly Pear Coleslaw, Baked Potatoes and Flyin' Biscuits. Once the dinner bell rang they had us form a line and herded us through another room behind the stage area where they had that room all fixed up as if you were walking through a covered wagon, Really neat, and let me tell you, the food is awesome and then once everyone was served they came around and offered seconds on anything you wanted. I have never been to a dinner show where they gave you seconds… WoW, Oh I almost forgot the dessert, Apple Crisp a-la-mode…
I guess we hit it just right we got to enjoy the Christmas Show. The show was very entertaining, it had singing with some comedy and great Christmas songs. Before the show they recognized all the birthday people. Of course we told them ahead of time about Shorty’s Birthday, so they called  his  name…
Then the show…
This crazy looking guy is Otis he’s a comedian and is very entertaining. But to our surprise not only is he funny but when he sang it was amazing. Almost like Jim Neighbors… talk funny then shock everyone with an operatic voice. Then close to the end of evening the group sang Ghost Riders in the sky and every time they sang the chorus, to our surprise there was a ghost rider riding by outside the windows all the while a strobe light blinked… A very nice touch…
Later Ed and I got our picture with the ghost rider.
Ghost Rider
Until next time y’all, Happy Trails and Safe Travels…
